ELEVATOR

The elevator was invented in 1853 by elisha otis. An elevator is a type of vertical transport equipment that efficiently moves people or goods between floors of a building. Elevators are generally powered by electric motors. A elevator is essentially a platform that is either pulled or pushed up by a mechanical means. The Elevator doors protect riders from falling. The most common configuration is to have two panels that meet in the middle.
Henry Waterman of New York is credited with inventing the "standing rope control" for an elevator in 1850. Some buildings have elevators with the single door on the shaft way.The low mechanical complexity of hydraulic elevators in comparison to traction elevators makes them ideal for low rise, low traffic installations. They are less energy efficient.
